Ruth Groenhout (1962–2024) taught at philosophy at Calvin College for twenty years. Her research focused primarily on care ethics, feminism, and Christian ethics. Following her time at Calvin, she taught at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, where she held a distinguished professorship in healthcare ethics. Her publications included Bioethics: A Reformed Look at Life and Death Choices and Care Ethics and Social Structures in Medicine.
