Kenneth E. Bailey
Kenneth E. Bailey (1931–2016) was a renowned New Testament scholar, missionary, and author. The son of missionary parents who served in Egypt, the Sudan, and Ethiopia, he was immersed in Arabic and Arab culture at a young age. This experience, combined with his doctoral studies in biblical languages, gave him a unique perspective on reading the Scriptures in their cultural contexts. During his career, Bailey taught at the Evangelical Seminary in Cairo, the Near East School of Theology in Beirut, and the Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem. His books include Poet and Peasant, The Good Shepherd, and Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels.
